Eero Saarinen - Knoll Tulip Armchairs

€1,950.00

Set of 2 early Tulip armchairs designed by Eero Saarinen in 1957 for Knoll International.
This set was manufactured by De Coene, the official European producer of Knoll furniture at the time. These two chairs were among the very first pieces produced in Europe and originally furnished the home of De Coene’s CEO himself.

The Tulip armchair is a modernist icon known for its sleek, sculptural form and innovative use of materials. Saarinen aimed to eliminate the "slum of legs" found under traditional chairs by creating a single, pedestal base. The chair combines fiberglass and aluminum, blending functionality with futuristic elegance.
Over the years, the chairs have developed a natural patina. The subtle wear and slight discoloration add to their unique charm and character.
